Buprenorphine with Naloxone, or Suboxone, has been proven to be highly effective in treating opioid addiction. Suboxone comes as either a film or as a tablet that are placed under the tongue and absorbed sublingually, making it one of the most popular treatments for opioid addiction worldwide.

Vivitrol is the brand name for the injectable form of Naltrexone. It is a powerful drug that acts on the brain to block the effects of alcohol and opiates, allowing people to break free from their dependence. This medication represents an important tool in helping individuals struggling with addiction.

The active medication in Sublocade is Buprenorphine. What makes Sulocade so unique is that it is an injectable form of buprenorphine and remains in the body for several weeks. Thus, the patient no longer needs to take the medication orally on a daily basis. This is yet another tool in the arsenal to help combat opioid dependency.

What is Buprenorphine?

Buprenorphine is the first medication to treat opioid use disorder (OUD) that can be prescribed or dispensed in physician offices, significantly increasing access to treatment. As with all medications used in treatment, buprenorphine should be prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes counseling and other services to provide patients with a whole-person approach.
Buprenorphine offers several benefits to those with OUD and to others for whom treatment in an Opioid Treatment Clinic is not appropriate or is less convenient.
